I think that by adding the url, I could trust people I don’t know very well better. Still, the best solution might very well be just proxing up everything or cubing at the hotel lobby, but not at the actual event site.

Good point about the cube being “Magic out of the box”, and one piece you’ll keep forever. But, yeah, I have to agree that it would probably only prevent the thief from profiting, not stealing.

I guess I’d be reluctant to take my cube to events these days. Especially not to play with people I don’t know. Too bad.

I was imagining bringing my cube to an event and playing with it. When it’s in my bag and THAT get’s stolen, well, yeah. That can be only prevented if I simply leave my cube at home. I am rather afraid of cubers leaving the sideboards unattended etc.

The only issue I see, beyond those already mentioned, is that this may not actually deter the theft itself. Rather it would just thwart the thief from profiting. Unless the thief has scoped your cube out ahead of time and decided to make you a mark, the thief won’t see the alterations until he has moved your stuff to a safe place and goes to examine it.

It works against those people who are after the cards. If someone is after the Cube itself, it doesn’t work so well. Generally speaking though, it seems like a solid measure, especially if you have no intention to ever sell your Cube. It’s sad however, that the situation has become so bad that people are starting to consider things like this.
