    • Being successful at what price? At Pro Tour Hawaii you saw teams start to form to attempt to break the format. Team CFB, Team Finkel, Juza w/ the Japanese, Team Hunt . Now each group had a sound strategy, enough people to test and prepare for the tourney. Is this going to be game defined by superstar teams that use [...]themenofmagic
    • FNM – 2-2. Room for improvementWent to my local Friday Night Magic last night. Had a great night, really enjoyed playing with the deck. My “report” is below. Game 1 – “J-Pod” Not too much I can say here. Game 1, he got unlucky with land and I only saw one card and a bunch of non-basic land in green, [...]davremon
    • FNM Report – Another Win for Heartless Pod!Despite feeling pretty rough I decided to head along to FNM tonight, mainly because I really felt like I needed to get out the house. Turned out to be the right decision! I took my usual GB Heartless Pod build … Continue reading edguise88
    • The eye of the FinkelI could go through the list of accomplishments that Jon has done in magic, but read this article on his HoF  status http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/halloffame.aspx?x=mtgevent/hofplayer/jfinkel Jon has embraced every challenge that he has gone after, been successful in real life ventures, and still at moments notice can get the biggest names in New York to go for a [...]themenofmagic

    • A Little Something About MeWell, this is my new blog about my Magic the Gathering life. It hopefully will be an interesting story of ups and downs, witty banter and maybe even a few good ideas sprinkled here and there. I will use this blog as a way to share ideas and as a way to just get down [...]davremon
    • Ulasht, the Hate Seed EDHThe first of my 3 EDH creations was inspired by Ulasht, the Hate Seed. Nothing overpowered or brutal, just a couple of cool abilities that seemed great for building around. The deck has come a long way from its initial … Continue reading edguise88

    • Standard Brew: BG Birthing PodOne of the major afflictions I have when it comes to Magic is an addiction to brewing. Good ol’ Smitty seems to suffer from the same thing. No matter how much success I have with a given deck, I always feel like I should be building a new one because I thought of or heard [...]Chris Lansdell

    • Modern Rock Loam Deathcloud HarvestRight now I’ve been tinkering with B/G in Modern. The deck is very grindy, the kind of deck where incremental advantage is leveraged to the utmost. It rewards good play, punishes mistakes, and is generally pretty fun. I wanted to … Continue reading wrongwaygoback
    • Skaff Elias interview (s)Being lucky enough to get one of the original founders of the game on the show is great. The interesting thing is he’s got a lot more to say and I am willing to record for him, because the first interview (that should be available tonight on MTGCAST) was hot from start to end. We [...]themenofmagic
    • Beyond Fun and Profit (Part 2)While establishing short and long-term goals is the first step to success, building motivation is certainly the next one. Doing so however is often difficult since motivation is more of an emotional state than a methodical one. Feelings and desires – emotions! – will strengthen motivation much more strongly than cold, hard facts. This is [...]GrumpyOldGamer
    • Modern Loam HarvestBased on people’s feedback on the Modern MBC deck I posted, there clear suggestion was to make the most of pox by adding Life from the Loam. I rebuilt the deck with this in mind, stealing heartily from some Legacy … Continue reading wrongwaygoback
    • A Limited View of Limited. (Part 1)Drafting can be one of the best ways to expand your skills as a player for a multitude of reasons. However good experiences come from good practice and you cannot practice things that you don’t know about. It is doubtful that those of you reading this are professional Magic players and while I hope you [...]samdavisboyhero
    • GP VancouverFor those who don’t know, I am trying to get to GP Vancouver in June. Not to play necessarily, but to judge (if approved). When I got certified as a judge it was mainly to allow me to give back to the community in another way. I can’t travel to overseas GPs so it’s Canada [...]Chris Lansdell
    • FNM Report – Pod Back On Top!So with Dark Ascension released I took an updated Pod list to this weeks FNM, notably replacing the 2 Doom Blade and a Phyrexian Rager in the Maindeck with 2 Tragic Slip and a Geralf’s Messenger. Both proved to be … Continue reading edguise88

    • Week #4 in ReviewWhile work proved to be relentless this week – as it usually is at the end of month – I was able to complete my run with the Zoo archetype in Modern.
